The Chief Executive Officer of the National Unity Government Abdullah Abdullah said there is no article in the peace agreement with Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s Islamic party that is contrary to the national interests.

Abdullah said today at the meeting of the Council of Ministers that there is no barrier in respect to the signing of the peace deal.

A spokesman for the High Peace Council has said that preparations for the signing of the peace agreement with the Islamic Party have been taken.

Peace talks between the Afghan government and the Islamic party have been ongoing for a few months now.

However, specific names were not mention by Abdullah, but emphasized that there are groups trying to politically benefit from the issue of the peace agreement and being pacifists, opposing peace.

He stressed that any agreement signed will practically be implemented with a firm commitment.

The statements come as the peace deal between the Afghan government and the Islamic Party led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar is expected to be signed in the next few days.
