US President Joseph Biden will make his first phone call to a foreign leader on Friday, January 22, and it will be Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the White House press secretary Jen Psaki said on Thursday at a press briefing for journalists.

“His first phone call to a foreign leader will be on Friday, [he will call] Prime Minister Trudeau,” Psaki said. “I expect them to discuss the importance of [the US] relationship with Canada and his decision to [cancel the construction of the pipeline from Canada to the US] Keystone XL, “she said. “I have no [information] yet on his plans to call President Putin.”

According to Psaki, she assumes that first Biden will call the leaders of the countries – allies and partners of the United States. “He feels it is important to rebuild this relationship and discuss the current global threats and challenges we face,” Psaki added.
