Terrorist attacks have increased within Afghanistan, despite peace talks between Afghan government officials and the Taliban in Doha.

For example, a hand grenade exploded near the Russian embassy and near the car of Russian diplomats in Kabul.

In an interview with Asia News Agency, Afghan expert Habibullah Helmandi said the rise in terrorist attacks in Afghanistan is negatively affecting the peace process.

“The Taliban obey the orders of their regional and Western patrons,” he said. Taliban supporters are ready to do anything to disrupt the peace process. But they must know that they cannot undermine the friendship and relations between Russia and Afghanistan with such terrorist attacks.

He added: “The policy of the Afghan government and people is based on maintaining good neighborliness, both regional and global.” The foreign policy of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani is commendable. He has maintained friendship with all countries of the world.

He stressed: “There is no doubt that the increase in terrorist attacks is negatively affecting the peace negotiation process.” This is a demand from international Taliban supporters, especially the US and UK. They are generally not committed to peace in Afghanistan. They see their interest in continuing the war in Afghanistan.

Helmandi said: “The Afghan government and people are very eager to bring peace, but unfortunately the Taliban do not have a spirit of solidarity and are not interested in peace. The reason is that the Taliban have no will of their own. There are countries that support the Taliban financially and politically. These countries are calling on the Taliban to continue the war.

According to him, the purpose of detonating a bomb near the Russian embassy in the Afghan capital is to create tension in the country in order to slow down the peace process, and secondly, the use of the Taliban against some countries, especially Russia.

“Of course, the Taliban do not have the courage or the ability to confront Russia,” he said. On the other hand, the Afghan government and people will never allow terrorist groups and the Taliban to use the territory of Afghanistan against any country.

According to Helmandi, one of the reasons for the escalation and continuation of the war in Afghanistan is the constant presence of intelligence of some countries in Afghanistan. They support the Taliban materially and with weapons. Without their help, the Taliban would not have been able to fight for 20 years.
