Russian 201st military base in Tajikistan received armored vehicles

The 201st Russian military base in Tajikistan trailed the new armored vehicles in Badakhshan region of the country.

According to Asia News Agency, units of the Russian military base in Tajikistan were reinforced for the first time, mostly with the BTR-82A armored personnel carriers.

Yaroslav Roshchupkin, Central Military District commander’s aide, said the armored vehicles have been transferred to Dushanbe, Tajikistan in early June, this year.

He continued that the new armored vehicles have many advantages compared to the old models, the vehicles are capable of making immediate reactions to enemy’s moving targets, and have also increased firepower.

Roshchupkin said in addition to these armored vehicles, 400 other new weapons and war equipment will be transferred to the 201st military base in Tajikistan.

The 201st Russian military base, with 7000 military forces, have two branches in Tajikistan, one in Dushanbe and the other one in Qorgan Tapa.

The agreement for the extension of deployment of 201st Russian military base was approved by the Parliament of Tajikistan in 2013.

According to the agreement, the military base will remain until 2042 in the territory of Tajikistan, totally, the presence of the Russian military base in Tajikistan since 1993 will reach to 49 years.
