Peter Paul, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, said that today, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is ready to resume dialogue with Moscow, which should touch on the Afghan question.

In his speech at a recent press conference in Brussels, the general stress was on the fact that NATO and Russia could discuss the events in Afghanistan and Syria, as well as to address the problem of terrorism. “If there is a serious desire to conduct a meaningful dialogue, we can start even tomorrow, the channels are open, we have expressed a desire to reach out many times.”

According to his statement, he himself was the initiator for the organization of meetings between NATO and General Valery Gerasimov, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, but this proposal was not supported by Moscow.

Despite this, Paul P. noted that the offer of dialogue still in force, and, as soon as Moscow expressed readiness, the military-political alliance is ready to immediately resume contact.
